My Approach
Imagine a space where children and adults can feel seen, understood, and supported. A place to explore emotions, navigate challenges, and strengthen the relationships that matter most. Here, your child can gain confidence in facing life’s obstacles, you can deepen your connection with loved ones, and together, you can build more understanding and trust.
My approach is experiential and tailored to each person’s needs, focusing on relational patterns and the experiences that shape us. Sessions may include play-based and experiential activities for children, guided conversations for families, and EMDR therapy for individuals addressing trauma or deeper challenges.
I provide more than strategies, I help foster stronger connections and meaningful relationships, supporting growth, and lasting change.
About Me
Hi, I’m Alyssa Middleton. Some therapists are cautious about sharing personal details, but I believe being a little more open helps create connection and trust. By giving you a glimpse into who I am, I hope to model honesty and show that therapy is a space where you can bring your whole self.
Therapy with me isn’t all scripted questions and formalities. I keep it genuine and approachable.
I grew up in Texas and spent eight years in NYC, which I loved for its energy and chaos, but eventually wanted a slower pace. These days, I enjoy the changing seasons in Colorado and being close to the mountains. I’m an animal lover with two rescue pets, Banjo, a goofy dog and sassy cat named Pippin. I have a serious soft spot for pastries and baked goods and love finding new bakeries wherever I go.
I founded The Center for Relational & Child Therapy to support families, children, and individuals through compassionate, evidence-based care rooted in attachment and emotional understanding. I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
I’m trained in:
Emotionally Focused Family, Couple, and Individual Therapy (EFFT, EFT, EFIT)
Experiential and Family Systems Approaches
Play Therapy & Art-Based Techniques
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) through an EMDRIA-approved training program
I’m a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), the National Alliance for Children’s Grief, and the Satir Institute of the Pacific. I was honored to receive the Father Ignacio Martín-Baró Award for my work with clients, a recognition rooted in the belief that healing and justice are intertwined. His legacy continues to inspire my practice.
Thanks for showing up here. I look forward to being a guide, ally, and support as you explore what matters most to you.
